General Alumni Relations Questions

What is the Office of Alumni Relations?
The Office of Alumni Relations seeks to engage all Denison alumni in a mutually beneficial, lifelong connection to each other and to Denison.  It strives to help alumni keep alive the friendships, associations and interests they formed as students at Denison; to foster giving to the University; to maintain close cooperation among alumni, officers and Trustees of the University and develop the bond to Denison beyond the student years.

  • Class reunions - Our staff works with alumni committee volunteers and a crew of amazing students to help organize these special gatherings each year.
  • Big Red Weekend- and many other special events open to all alumni of Denison occur throughout the year and are orchestrated by our able staff.
  • Regional Clubs and Special Interest or Affinity Groups - We serve as a liaison to assist the leaders of these groups, sponsoring events and activities across the nation for alumni to stay engaged with Denison.

We offer a number of volunteer activities for alumni as well.

You can contact the Office of Alumni Relations by phone (877) 336-8648 option 4 or by email alumni@denison.edu.

Is there a fee associated to being a member of the DenisonEverywhere.com Online Community?

How do I update my information?
Once you are logged into DenisonEverywhere simply click on the Update My Info link at the top of the page.

How do I get my username and password?
A hard copy mailing was sent to all Denison Alumni when DenisonEverywhere.com was launched.  Your username and temporary password were included in this mailing.  Upon your initial login to the site, you will be prompted to update your information and create a new password.  If you have misplaced your password, please visit the Reset Password page.  This will allow you to request a new password be sent to the email address that you provided during your initial login. If these options do not work for you, please call our office (877) 336-8648 option 4, and we are happy to assist you.

My email address has changed. How do I update my alumni email forwarding?
You will need to Login in to DenisonEverywhere.com.  Once you are logged in please go to the Update My Account Page.  This is where you can delete the old email address and enter the new email address to which you want your mail forwarded. Click the "update" button and your mail will be redirected to your new address within 12-24 hours.

Why is my personal information available on the Internet? I don't think this information should be on the Internet.
The information you see in your personal information is your university system record. No one else has access to your personal information except you. This form is also encrypted over the web to block out anyone who might try to access your information. For more information, please read our Privacy Policy.

Will people be able to view my information in the alumni directory?
Only other registered alumni will be able to search the directory.

Do alumni get email accounts? What is alumni email forwarding?
Once you become a student at Denison, you are assigned an email alias. This alias is your lifetime email forwarding address.  This service provides you with a Denison affiliated address that never changes which makes keeping in touch with friends much easier. You won't have to notify everyone each time your email address changes. They'll always be able to reach you through your alumni address. Any mail sent to the @denison.edu address will be forwarded to whichever email address you're currently using, providing that you update the service each time you get a new email address.

NOTE:  Your Denison alumni email alias is not an Internet service provider so you will need to retain one in order to access the Internet. Nor is it an email program that will allow you to view, read, and store mail, so you will need to have another email address.  The Denison alumni email alias program is a mail forwarding service. This service does not store email.  Also, your email alias is not the same as the email address that you have/had as a student.  Student email addresses are functional only while a student is actively enrolled at Denison.

Receiving your alumni email alias is a separate process from online community registration.

If I want more information about something I saw on DenisonEverywhere, whom do I contact?
The Office of Alumni Relations Staff page will help you find the person who can answer your question.

People & Reunions

How do I contact fellow alumni?
If you are an alumnus, you can log in and search the Alumni Directory by rolling over Stay Connected and mouse down to Alumni Directory. Otherwise, contact the Office of Alumni Relations via email alumni@denison.edu, or call (877) 336-8648 option 4.  If they have chosen to make their information public we can give you their contact information.  Otherwise, Denison privacy policy prevents us from sharing information about our alumni, but we can forward messages to them on your behalf if we have current contact information.  Due to privacy considerations, Denison does not release names, addresses or phone numbers of alumni to third parties.

In addition, you can reconnect in person at a Class Reunion or by attending a Denison Club Event.

How do I find local alumni and/or a local alumni chapter?

The Alumni Directory will help you locate alumni in your city.  Also, Denison's Regional Clubs and Affinity Groups are a great way to stay in touch with other alumni in your hometown. For more information about these groups, see the Special Interest Groups page.

I would like a contact list of my graduating class.  How can I get one?
The university maintains an alumni database for personal and individual communications among alumni and for official university purposes. For these reasons, The Office of Alumni Relations can provide lists of groups of alumni.  Direct access to this information can be found on DenisonEverywhere.com to registered alumni.

Please see our Reunions Page for information regarding groups.  Groups can be organized by class year or affinity.  Additional information is provided on the Reunions page.

When is my next Reunion?
Denison uses the Dartmouth Plan for class reunions.  Instead of a standard model where classes reunite every five years, a cluster model is used to engage multiple classes at once.  These cluster reunions happen at the 15th, 20th, 30th, 35th and 45th reunions.  See the Future Reunions page for specific listings.

How do I get involved in reunion activities?
You can volunteer to be on your class's reunion committee to help plan and prepare Reunion Weekend. Read more on our Reunions Page.

What are Alumni Special Interest Group Reunions?  How can I plan one?
Alumni Special Interest Groups, also know as Affinity Reunions, reconnect alumni with a common interest or affinity to the university. These reunions may be based on residence houses/halls, vocal ensembles, clubs or athletic programs, among others. Reunions for these groups are usually based on the anniversaries of when the groups were established and may occur in conjunction with Big Red Weekend in the fall or some other date that is significant to the group. Alumni who would like to plan a reunion for their group can contact reunions@denison.edu for more information.

How do I organize an event on campus or request a faculty member or administrator visit my event?
The Office of Alumni Relations serves as your liaison to campus resources.  If you want to hold an event on campus for your class in conjunction with a reunion, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations.  We can also assist you with inviting a faculty member or senior staff member to your area as we are aware of the travel schedules of many University VIPs and will be happy to help you.

How do I nominate an alumnus or alumna for an Honorary Degree or Citation?
Information about  the various Awards and Recognitions from Denison can be found here.  If you have specific information that you would like to share with us, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations via email reunions@denison.edu, or call (877) 336-8648 option 4.

What happened to Homecoming?
Homecoming once was a vibrant event for the Denison family.  Moving into the 1970s, however, attendance started to decline.  The Denison population was becoming more national, and it was more challenging to return to Granville in the fall. In the 2000s, fewer than 100 alumni would register to attend the weekend.  Many traditions associated with Homecoming no longer were in place ... a parade, queen, campus decorating, etc.  To inspire an enticing fall event, we thought outside the box, and Big Red Weekend was born!
